This past weekend the
Lasalle Titans 8U AA team competed in the Green and Gold Classic in Lasalle.
With bright blue skies
and warm temperatures, the team got off to a hot start with a win on Friday
afternoon against Waterdown Wolves and followed that up with a decisive victory
Saturday morning against St. Catherine’s Cobras.
Saturday afternoon they faced a tough Lakeshore Whitecaps team that started fast and showed early signs of momentum. The 2015’s from Lasalle stayed calm, and just competed! At the halfway point the Titans poured it on at the plate and locked things up in the field coming out victorious, earning a spot as the top seed in the Semifinals.
Sunday morning brought rain and grey skies. After a 2-hour delay, they battled St. Thomas in a hard-fought affair and that saw some great hitting and exceptional defense. The Titans were able to come out on top just before another rainstorm hit.
Following a short delay, the finals started almost 3 hours later than originally scheduled. The matchup was against a fantastic Halton Hills Hawks team who had beat Lasalle earlier in the year. The game was tight, seeing a couple lead changes until the Titans started finding their bats and playing some great D. In the end the 2015 U8 Lasalle Titans came out as champions!
The team would like to extend a special thanks to all the grounds crew who worked tirelessly Sunday morning to get the diamonds ready for the semifinals, and then again regrouped and somehow managed to get two diamonds playable for the U9 and U8 Finals. Thank you Mike, and your entire team, for your hard work. We appreciate all that you do!!!
