13U Athletics (Gold 2010) Cap Golden Season As Eastern Canadian Champions in PEI
The 13U LaSalle Athletics (Gold 2010) capped their incredible season as the Eastern Canadian Champions in Cardigan, Prince Edward Island, earning gold medals and the highest honours possible at 13U

The Athletics ran the table in the tournament, going 7-0, including back-to-back wins against the previously undefeated Waterloo Ghosts.  LaSalle’s young women took away Waterloo’s undefeated season in Friday’s battle of the pool winners and backed up the win with a tight 5-4 victory in the gold medal game.

Throughout the tournament, the Athletics showed what has become their trademarks: strong pitching, consistent offense up and down the order, and resiliency.  LaSalle was down in several games on the weekend, including both games with Waterloo, and battled back to win each time.  The Easterns championship was an impressive, but unsurprising result, as young women of the Athletics showed the heart they have displayed all year in their relentless pursuit of their team goals.

Madison Potter, one of several A’s pitchers that excelled during Easterns, was named Pitcher of the Tournament following the final game.  A well-earned distinction for one of the team’s leaders.

Special thanks go to Claire Moncada of the Vaughan Vikings, as well as the whole Moncada family and the gracious 2010 Vikings team, for stepping on to the Athletics squad at the last minute due to injuries and absences.  Claire fit in seamlessly, earning honourary Athletics status and the appreciation of the team.

The players’ families, friends and the entire Athletics organization are proud of what the 13U team accomplished during the 2023 season.  The athletes showed amazing growth as players and young adults this season, and have been rewarded with unforgettable memories and experiences that will last a lifetime.

Finally, the coaches, players and families would like to again thank the generous sponsors that supported the 2010 Athletics during our 2023 season.  The continued support of the following sponsors allowed these young athletes to accomplish their goals, be it in Ontario or all the way to PEI: The Hideout Bar & Grill, Liberty Business Brokers of Ontario, Realtor Pali Goraya, Robinson Transport, Unifor Locals 200, 444 and 2027, Unifor Windsor Essex County Skilled Trades Council and Waterbee Pools & Hot Tubs.
