The LaSalle Titans Mosquito Minor Gold offense too much for Belle River in 15-2 rout
The LaSalle Titans Mosquito Minor Gold refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against Belle River, recording a 15-2 victory on Thursday at Turtle Club.
Thirteen runs in the first three innings allowed the LaSalle Titans Mosquito Minor Gold to put the game away early. An RBI single by Owen Findlay, an RBI double by Andrew Langlois, a two-run single by Cody Moore in the first inning and a steal of home by Nathan Gignac, an RBI single by Owen F, a steal of home by Brandon Leblanc, and an error during the second inning helped the LaSalle Titans Mosquito Minor Gold put some runs on the board early.
Nathan put himself in scoring position with three extra-base hits for the Titans. He doubled in the second, third, and fourth innings.
Owen St.Pierre was in control on the bump. Owen gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four during his two innings of work. Nathan Gignac got in a jam in the 4th inning with bases loaded and no outs he dug deep and struck out 2 and forced a ground ball to get himself out of harms way.
The Titans came out swinging as seven hitters combined for 14 hits, six RBIs and 14 runs scored.
The Titans answered Belle River's score in the top of the 3rd inning with five runs of their own in the third. The Titans scored on an RBI single by Lucas Chartrand, an RBI double by Nathan, an RBI single by Aedan Sullivan, a passed ball, and an RBI double by Brennan Valentini.
Highlights defensively included a gun out by Brandon from 3rd to first that slightly dragged Brennan, Brennan responded by coming to the ball and when it pulled him off he turned and put the tag on for security. Also, last play of the game, a Belle River runner took off for second, Connor Smith gunned him down at second. Lucas put the tag down hard at the runner’s foot (as he has been taught) but no one home. The runner pulled up knowing he was gunned down. Lucas chased him down to put the game away.
