Titans Bantam Major Captures Gold
The
Lasalle Titans Bantam Majors won the Wallaceburg Tournament held July
10-12. After soundly defeating Dresden and Belle River Mixed on Saturday, the
Titans earned a bye to the semi finals on Sunday morning. A surprise saw
Dresden take down Amherstburg in the quarters and Lasalle had no issues
repeating its earlier result. Josh Fortier went the distance and Rob Maure had
2 doubles and a single in the win. Belle River Majors would meet the Titans in
the final. Their first meeting of the year. The teams traded runs in the first.
Lasalle took the lead on a squeeze play in the fifth by Curtis Bennett. Two
errors allowed the Braves to tie it in the 6th but Lasalle put up 4 in their
half to seize control. Matt Veselinovic threw a complete game and earned the
Tournament MVP. Congratulations to all players and coaches for a great weekend
of ball.
