After
a couple of Silver Medals to start the season, the 2008 LaSalle Athletics U15
Team was able to break through at the Mississauga Summer Slam Tournament and
bring home a gold medal. It was a team
atmosphere all weekend as the girls worked hard together to go undefeated for
the weekend.
On
Offence the team put up 45 runs which was due to key hits in critical situations
game to game and throughout the batting order.
All players had roles in certain situations and were able to come
through each time for the team. This
also translated to the fielding side of the ball where only 9 runs were letup
over the weekend. There were strikeouts
from pitchers along with excellent fielding behind the pitchers. This included stellar outfield catches and exceptional
plays on the infield to ensure the team got out of innings with minimal to no runs
let up even with base runners in play.
The
team was able to get out to leads early and often throughout the weekend and eventually
did the same to beat the host team of Mississauga to take the gold medal home
to LaSalle. The coaches are extremely proud
of the team and how supportive they were of each other in every aspect of the
game throughout the weekend.
