For a brief description on the origin of Tag Day...

...while Wikipedia doesn't have an entry for Tag Day, we'll attempt to provide some background:

Tag Day is a Little League (LL) ritual that dates back as far as most in our Organization can remember.  :)   It is essentially a Fundraiser where LL teams gather together outside of a predetermined location (typically a place where pedestrian traffic is bountiful) for an hour or so, and attempt to raise money for the Organization.  Years ago this was done by handing out "Tags" which were approx. 2" x 2" sturdy paper that contained the Organization Logo.  These contained a slot/hole where the patron could wear the Tag on a shirt button to show their support for the Organization.

Today things have changed slightly.  LL still participates in the initiative across all Organizations, but rather than hand out Tags, there are a variety of different items that are exchanged for Donations.  TC opts for Candy, as the sweet choice seems to be effective to help raise money, which in turn is used to continue to provide the best possible Baseball environment for our Young Ball Players.  So if you see one of our little Turtles at a Bank or Grocery store, please show your support.

Thanks!
