Letter from the President - 8/20 (Post AGM)
Submitted By dsoulliere on Mon 08 20, 12
TC Membership,
I would like to thank all of the people that
took time out of their busy schedules to attend the 2012 AGM, held on
Sunday August 19th at the Turtle Club Clubhouse. It was great to see so many people out...
The recommendation of the Board to move away from the Little League program was approved unanimously at the AGM. Now our real work begins and there is a lot of it! So what does this mean for our membership and what does our program look like?
Let’s start with our new program structure:
· House League program – Turtle Club
o House League program will continue to be called TC and fly our gold and green colours
o There will be no boundaries to our program and players in ALL of LaSalle will be able to register and should we have space we will welcome players from the city and the county as well
o We will continue to field boys and girls teams in all age brackets as we do today, 4 to 19
o Early Bird registration will once again be held in November
· Baseball Representative (Travel) – LaSalle Titans
o We will field teams in every age group from 8 to 16 years of age in the Sun Parlour Baseball Association which is part of OBA
o Tryouts for these teams will begin the weekend after the Labour Day weekend
o These teams are open to ALL residents of LaSalle and players from outside of LaSalle will need to follow the OBA release process by obtaining permission to practice forms and then a release, should they be offered a position on one of our teams
· Softball Representative (Travel) – LaSalle Athletics
o We will field teams in every age group from 8 to 16 years of age (and potentially beyond) in the PWSA and possibly the USSSA organization
o Tryouts for these teams will begin the weekend after the Labour Day weekend
o These teams are open to everyone regardless of where they live
As we indicated previously there really is not a lot of change to you as members. The key difference is that players will not be playing both house league and travel ball, it will be one or the other. We will be working hard over the next 2 months to re-evaluate the House League program and its divisions. We will continue to post information on our website so please check there regularly for updates.
Also, and most importantly, we have to open positions on the Board. One for Umpire in Chief and the other for Intermediate House League Director BB (ages 10 to 12). We desperately need the help in order to make the changes successful. Please volunteer!
