Turtle Club Baseball and Softball is hosting two umpire clinics for the 2026 season. The first one, for baseball, is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, and the second one, for softball, is scheduled for Sunday, April 19.
BASEBALL UMPIRE CLINIC
The baseball umpire clinic is a Baseball Ontario Umpire Camp being held at the Villanova High School Gym on Saturday, April 18 from 9am to 1pm. The camp is a required part of the certification process for Level 1 and 2 umpires. A maximum of 40 participants, seeking either Level 1 or Level 2 certification, may attend this camp. Pre-registration (see below) is required. The cost of the camp is $30 for Level 1 or $50 for Level 2, payable at the time of online registration. Registered participants are to arrive 30 minutes before the start of the camp (8:30am). The camp is strongly recommended for those seeking umpire opportunities in the club's travel baseball program (LaSalle Titans Baseball), older divisions in the club's house league program, and/or in the club's select program, either this season or in future seasons. The camp is not mandatory for those seeking umpire opportunities ONLY in younger divisions in the club's house league program (in-house training will be provided) BUT would still be of great benefit to those individuals, and is strongly suggested.

SOFTBALL UMPIRE CLINIC
The softball umpire clinic is a Softball Ontario umpire clinic being held at Turtle Club Park from 10am to 2pm on Sunday, April 19, for individuals seeking Level 1 certification. The cost of the clinic is $80 payable online via the Softball Ontario website. The maximum number of participants is 40. Pre-registration (see below) is required. Registered participants are to arrive 30 minutes before the start of the clinic session (9:30am). The clinic is strongly recommended for those seeking umpire opportunities in the club’s travel softball program (LaSalle Athletics Softball) as well as the club’s house league and select softball programs, either this season or in future seasons. Additional potential opportunities include umpire assignments at local provincial championship tournaments this season. In the event of inclement weather, the clinic may be moved to a local indoor gym, so it is "rain or shine".
NEW FOR 2026 - Softball Ontario umpire certification now has an online component including an online exam; once registered, participants will receive access to online modules and these modules should be completed prior to the in-person clinic date; Level 1 certification requires umpires to obtain at least 60% on the online exam; any umpire 17 and under at the time of registration must take either a Youth or Level 1 umpire clinic EACH year until they are 18; any new umpire 18 or older must take a Level 1 umpire clinic; any returning umpire 18 or older will need to register with Softball Ontario as an umpire and take either a higher level or refresher clinic every other year; an umpire under 18 but at least 15 who has taken a Level 1 clinic in a prior season may take a Level 2 umpire clinic in order to be registered for the season
