2011 LaSalle Athletics (U11) Fall Short in the Battle at the Beach
The 2011 LaSalle Athletics (U11) battled hard all weekend, but came up short in the semi-finals against a strong squad from Stratford.
The 2011 LaSalle Athletics (U11) outhit (36-13) and outscored (48-24) their opponents to finish the round robin undefeated with a record of 4-0 (the only undefeated team in the round robin) in the Battle at the Beach in beautiful Port Elgin/Saugeen Shores (June 10-12).
Unfortunately, despite fantastic pitching in the semi-final game (allowing only 4 runs on 4 hits, with 3 walks and striking out 36% of batters faced) along with excellent defense, the hits just did not keep on coming. The team was only able to generate 1 hit in the semi-final game, ultimately losing to Stratford with a final score of 4-2.
This squad of superb players battled hard, stayed in the game, kept a positive attitude and most importantly, as always, showed excellent sportsmanship on and off the field. The coaches were extremely proud of the effort put in by the girls this past weekend.
