LaSalle Athletics 2012 Mite Green takes Bronze in Provincial Bracket.

Congratulations to the LaSalle Athletics 2012 Mite Green team for winning bronze in their U10 bracket provincial series!

This lively first-year team was comprised of a wide variety of players, with only one player having had previous travel experience and one additional player having played Jr Girls house league. The remaining 10 players only played t-ball during the 2019 season and worked hard to adapt to fastpitch. They quickly meshed as a team and embraced the challenge of preparing for provincials! After a first-round bye, the team travelled to Saugeen Shores for three games; one qualifying game against the 2011 Stratford Stealers and two exhibition games against the Saugeen Shores Sting. The Athletics finished their out-of-town weekend undefeated! Their next qualifier game in early August didn’t go quite as well, and they suffered a tough home-field loss against the Oakville Angels, sending them to the semi-final round and setting up a rematch with Stratford. Though the team played well, they could not overcome the bats of the much-improved Stealers and ended up securing third place in their bracket. Unfortunately, medals are not awarded for third place, however the 2011 Athletics team head coach, Tom Wilson, and the rest of his coaching staff celebrated the 2012’s win by having bronze medals made for them.  Thank you 2011s! During their first real season, the 2012’s may not have recorded many wins, however they showed grit, determination and a desire to improve with every game. Throughout the season regardless of the score, the smiles where big, the cheers were loud, and the memories will last forever. The coaches could not be more proud of this team!  Congratulations 2012 LaSalle Athletics! A’s on three! One, two three – A’s!!
