After going
nearly 24 months between competitive tournament style baseball, countless
practices, provincial shutdowns, and late season starts this group of 2009 boys
just wanted to compete again at a high level and defend their 2019 AA
crown. They spent last summer refining their skills and practicing but
were only able to play 5 games. This season they started strong and had a
good offseason of training considering the provincial restrictions.
After a short 14 game
regular season the Lasalle Titan’s 12U AA team entered the first round of
August Madness with high hopes. After a strong start they went 3-0 with
the Sarnia Braves and 2-1 against a tough Mississauga North Tigers team,
thereby qualifying for the top ‘Red’ group.
The top group consisting of Sudbury, Whitby and Lasalle decided to run a short round robin and tournament style elimination final. Our boys from Lasalle started slow but managed 2 wins Friday over Sudbury and Whitby. They followed that up with 10-3 and 15-0 wins Saturday.
Having qualified for a bye to the finals the Titans came out strong. Behind strong pitching and exceptional hitting throughout the tournament the Titans built and early lead. The Titans continued to push and built a solid 10 run lead into the 5th to take the game in just 5 innings.
Overall these boys hit, pitched and played defence like the champions they are. The coaching staff would like to congratulate all 12 players on their second AA and third overall championship in as many years… Yes, that is Back-to-Back-to-Back. Their hard work and dedication for competing for each other has paid off again.
