Comeback Kids Do It Again To Take Title
With dark clouds looming, a 15 minute delay because of lightning, and a short, steady drizzle, the sun was able to peak through long enough to get the Mosquito Championship game in between the Kelly Green Hornets and the Navy Blue team.

The season series between The Hornets and Navy Blue was close, with The Hornets taking it 2-1-1.  Each game was close and could have gone either way, which set up an exciting final between the two teams.
The game began like you would expect a finals game to.  Both teams were solid in the first, shutting down each other's offence.
Navy Blue continued to shut down the high powered Hornets in the top of the second, and then answered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the second.
In the top of the third, The Hornets bats began to light up, but were extinguished with two great plays by Navy Blue at the plate, by throwing out runners trying to score from third, and essentially, ending the inning and rally for The Hornets.
The bottom of the third saw a fifteen minute delay as a result of some heavy lighting, which seemed to spark The Hornets when the game resumed.  The bottom of the third saw Navy Blue score twice more, which put The Hornets in a 6-0 deficit, but as they proved all year, The Hornets are never out of it, and never give up.
The top of the fourth started with a walk, then four straight hits, when The Hornets began to mount a comeback...again.  The inning saw The Hornets go through the line up just short of two times, with every player reaching base and scoring at least once.
The bottom of the fourth saw The Hornets closer Owen, take the mound.  After a lead off single, The Hornets went to work, retiring the next two batters.  Navy Blue was not done yet, as they began to mount a comeback of their own, scoring two runs to make it a 10-8 ballgame, proving once again, how evenly matched these two teams are.
With two on and two out, Owen shut the door on Navy Blue with a fitting strike out to end the game and the season for The Hornets, with a 10-8 victory in the finals.
This match up saw Brandon and Owen pitch as good as they have all year.  They were helped in the field by great defense from Max, Anthony, Matt and Gabe, highlighted by a couple great grabs by Matt and Gabe.  Ty and Xman were stellar in their catching duties.  A great team effort tonight.
The Hornets were missing Nolan and Jonathan, but were able to call up Anthony from Rookie ball, who was a great help, and played an excellent game for The Hornets....thanks Anthony!!
The coaches were extremely proud of The Hornets never give up attitude all season, and saw general improvement from every player all year.  Thanks so much to the players, parents and the coaches for making this year an extremely successful and enjoyable year for all.
See everyone at the after season party soon.... Great job boys!!!
