13U Athletics (Green 2010) Start the Season with Silver at Blazer Blast
The 13U Lasalle Athletics (Green 2010) came
out of the gates strong in 2022, earning a silver medal in the season-opening
Blazer Blast tournament in Brampton this past weekend.
The A’s faced a daunting schedule with all four bracket games slated for Saturday in the unseasonably hot weather. But the girls persevered, going 4-0 with strong pitching that held their opponents to just 6 runs and 11 hits combined in the four games.
Playing in the top tier on Sunday, the A’s bats pushed them through two potential elimination games against the Corunna Lady Giants and the Mississauga North Tigers. The girls battled to reach the gold medal game late in the day Sunday, eventually coming up just short against the older 2009 Vaughan Vikings.
While the girls should be very proud of their medals, the coaches and parents were even more impressed with the team’s resiliency in the face of a grueling first weekend. The entire roster contributed to the team’s success in Brampton and they have now set the bar very high for the rest of the season.
