Facing a tough challenge in their first
tournament play without their starting pitcher, the 2011 LaSalle Athletics (U11) came
together as a team to earn silver in the Halton May Classic.
The tournament started in a turbulent fashion, with a lightning delay and a stoppage in play of their first game after 30 minutes, causing it to have to be made up in an early 8am Sunday game. But the girls weathered the storm, going 4-0 in Round Robin play, earning the #2 seed and a bye to the semi-finals, which they won to secure their spot in the finals.
They came up just short against a very strong Milton team, earning the silver, their 2nd medal in as many tournaments.
The team outscored their opponents 65 to 42, out-hitting them 52-38 and striking out 30% of batters faced.
