'06 MITES win GOLD at Provincials
The 2006 Lasalle Athletics Mite team (MacNeill) captured Provincial Gold in the "A" Division for Mite. The girls went 3-0 on Friday during the qualifying round putting them into the "A" division. Saturday they beat Chatham Gold 6-1, then went on to face a tough Milton Bats Sr. team. After a rain delay took the game into early Sunday morning, the girls gave everything they had to win 11-3.
Next, was the undefeated game against Aurora. Our bats came on strong to win the game 9-3, taking us to the Championship game where we once again came up against the Milton Bats Sr. team. After tying up the game at the end of the first inning, our defense needed to stay strong. Lasalle's bats came alive again during the 3rd inning putting us up 6-2. For the first time all year, the girls had to play into the 7th inning since there was still time left on the clock. The girls stayed strong and finished the game with an 8-4 final score. This makes back to back Provincial Gold in the Mite "A" division for Katelyn M and Kelsey A. All the girls worked extremely hard with strong pitching and great defense. This capped off an unbelievable season where the girls won 4 gold medals and a berth to a USSSA event in 2017, winning 46 games and only losing 1 all year. The coaches are all very proud of these young ladies and the work they put forth this year. Congratulations on a year well played!!!
