Bantam Minor OBA Champions!
The Titans Bantam Minor team captured an OBA title this past weekend in Brantford. The Titans went a perfect 6-0 on their way to victory. The team relied on great pitching and defence all weekend long to bring home the championship!
The Titans started out the tournament on Friday night by beating Oakville 5-0 on a complete game no hitter thrown by Mitch With. The offense that night was powered by Jared Hewitt's bases clearing triple. The Titans started the Saturday games against Clarington with a 6-2 victory backed by great pitching from Kevin Ward and timely hitting from Nyles Duren. The Titans faced Kingston in the afternoon game and won 12-0 backed by dominant pitching from Jared Hewitt. The Titans entered Sunday morning knowing they would be in tough against Niagara Falls, but could never anticipate how tough it would be. The game lasted 3.5hours and went 10 innings. The Titans scored a 7-6 victory when Matthew Lister executed a perfect squeeze bunt to score Ethan Kong who raced down the line to score the winning run!!!! The Titans, exhausted after the win, had to play Thornhill right after in the quarter final. The Titans scored an 8-5 victory and set up a rematch with Niagara Falls for Monday morning.
The Titans came to play on championship Monday! The Titans took a commanding 10-0 leading into the 4th inning. After Niagara Falls scored 3 runs in the top of the 4th the Titans came back and scored again in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings to lead 13-4. Kevin Ward took the hill in the top of the 5th and shut the door on Niagara Falls the rest of the way and the Titans completed their win!!!!. Every single player contributed to an incredible run. It was a total team effort. Special mention goes out to Mitchell With who lead the Titans hitting attack most of the weekend, Braydon Wharram for an all-around great offensive and defensive tournament and Spencer Todd for unbelievable defense play catching all weekend.
A special thank you goes out to the coaches who were incredible all year dedicating so much time and effort to the success of this team. It was my pleasure to coach each of these boys this past season. They worked hard all year and deserved to win!!!!!!
