Rya Cowan named OCAA player of the year
Rya Cowan named OCAA player of the year.  Rya began her softball career with Turtle Club Little League house league and later was a member of the 2011 winning the National Team Canada Title with the Allstar Major Softball Team.  The team later joined PWSA to become the first Athletics team in 2012.  In 2012 her team won gold and the success has continued for Rya throughout her Athletics career medalling many years Provincially and Nationally.  Rya continues to play for the Athletics and St. Clair College.

LaSalle's Rya Cowan was named OCAA player of the year as St. Clair gets set for the provincial tournament starting Friday. The 2nd-year infielder/pitcher is the sixth player in Saints history to receive the accolade and the first since Skyler Patteson won back-to-back in 2014-15.

Cowan had a great year at the plate finishing 4th in batting with a .449 average. She led the league with six homeruns and batted in 36 runs.

On the mound, Cowan was 5-2 with a 3.80 ERA and threw six complete games.

3rd year shortstop Jenna Hillman earned all-star recognition along with Cowan. The Windsor native played every inning this fall and finished third in the OCAA with a .453 batting average and 2nd with 13 stolen bases.
