2013 Athletics Mite Provincial Silver Medalists
LaSalle Athletics 9U Mite Softball Capture Silver Medal at Provincial Grand Championships
The LaSalle Athletics 9U Mite Softball team captured the Silver Medal at the Provincial Grand Championships in Chatham, Ontario, August 18th.
The 16 team Provincial Finals featured the best 8-10 year old girls from across the Province. It was the first year for this team to compete in the PWSA and they certainly performed well against fantastic competition, going undefeated against Cambridge, Halton & Brampton, before losing in the finals to the Wildcats.
All players contributed in the team's achievements over the three day tournament and there were some very dramatic moments over the weekend, including an exciting extra inning victory in the Quarter finals over Halton. It was a sudden death format the entire way to reach the finals and the girls were certainly up to the challenge. Focusing on both individual and team goals during the course of their season was most certainly key to their success.
The coaching staff and the parents of these wonderful athletes could not be prouder of the team's grit and determination over the grueling weekend and their overall success achieved during the entire season.
