Bantams finish 4th at Provincial Qualifier
The Bantam Athletics showed incredible grit, determination and teamwork in a great fourth place comeback effort in Barrie this weekend at the Bantam Provincial Qualifier.

Friday night the Bantams were served with a tough first draw with a game against a strong team out of Enniskillin. It seems that their nerves were the only thing that didn't get stuck on Hwy400 and they made a record 15 errors handing Enniskillin an easy 13-3 mercy win.

With their lives on the line the Athletics battled back though to prove they were strong competitors winning their next three games 7-6 over Barrie Storm, 18-1 over Halton Hills and 15-3 against Cambridge to cement themselves a spot in the 'A' Provincial championships.

Their goal was to leave now with a medal and showed up Sunday to do so. They easily beat London Lightning Blue 9-4 to move on to a re-match with their rivals from Friday night, the Enniskillin Express. They came out and scored the first run of the game in the top of the second inning, but the ejection of the opposing coach seemed to light a fire under the team in purple that LaSalle just couldn't put out and they fell again 6-2 for their second and final loss of the tournament.

Next up for the Athletics Bantam team is the Tier II Provincial Championships held in St. Catherine's August 8-10.
